My practise started in 2001 when my best friends mom dragged me to my first Hot Yoga class at Calgary Hot Yoga. After years and years of intense physical sports, and pushing myself, I must say I was hesitant, and sceptical. 90 minutes of 26 yoga postures later… I was hooked. I had found something on my mat that knocked my socks off, I was pushed mentally, physically, and emotionally. I spent about 4 years trying to figure it all out, to perfect it, so I signed up for my first teacher training. I met a dear friend Hali who told me about Baron Baptiste, and the training she did, which lead me to Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga.
After completing both Level 1 & 2 of Barons training, I felt a whole new level of what it was like to really live, how to show up for other people, and how to transform your life just by stepping on my mat. Learning to live in the now, to take the lid off of the box I was living in, and to see what was really possible for me. I can’t wait to take my Level 3 and become a certified Baptiste teacher!
I teach so I can learn. Being able to share yoga with people is what keeps me coming back, seeing transformation in front of my eyes everyday. I am continually inspired by the community that yoga creates and how many amazing people I continue to meet on my journey. Stepping into my own power and teaching others how to do the same.
I am grateful for Elmira and the group of individuals she has brought together, and the students that are drawn every single day to the studio. I look forward to seeing you in class on your mat, ready to go! Who knows where this practise will lead us, I am just so glad we can go together. Life is to short to play small, so be big, love whole heartedly and shine Bright!
